Importance of inspections

Inspections are important for new home owners. The Homeowners were told that this was a fireplace.

Fake Firebox	Looking up the "Chimney"

This natural gas supply line was found going up the chimney with the shut off inside the firebox.

This gas installer used a gutter down spout to vent a set of gas logs.

This improperly vented furnace flue was found during a chimney inspection. The gas vapors in the basement was a dead give-a-way.

Other chimney or fireplace problems

This partial brick flue system will deteriorate under normal chimney use due to the acid content in the flue gases.	After market glass doors are not recommended by manufactures of prefab fireplaces. We recommend that they be removed and replaced with the manufacture door
Combustible material near ash clean out doors can be a hazard. We recommend that ash clean out doors that open into a crawl space or basement be closed off.

Sometimes they just do not make ladders tall enough for those hard to reach places.
